LIMERICK artist Mark Bourke is returning to the city for his first solo art exhibition in a number of years.

He draws inspiration from the world around him for his paintings: “I live in a rural area, I paint a lot of hay barns, a lot of old houses”.

A keen fan of venturing abroad, only just back from Berlin at the time of interviewing, he is often inspired by sights he sees on his travels.

Formerly the owner of an art gallery in the city centre, the Boher native sold up in 2014, and now focuses primarily on commission work.

Mark recalled: “I remember, when I had my gallery, in Limerick there were at least ten commercial galleries, now there’s none”.

“It’s a pity,” he said, recollecting a Thursday night, over a decade ago, when ten art shows were held in Limerick at the same time.

The show will be officially opened by Con Quigley chair of EVA International on Friday, October 25 at 7pm in the Georgian House Limerick, No 2 Pery Square.

The show will run for two weeks.
