ARTECHOUSE NYC has debuted its most ambitious exhibit yet. Throughout the year, the work of more than 100 creatives will be on display as part of the Submerge project. This global open-call program aims to spotlight the next generation of creative innovators. Our Untapped New York Members got a first look at the debut phase of the project during preview weekend this January!

ARTECHOUSE NYC is a cutting-edge digital art space in the basement of Chelsea Market, the former Meatpacking District headquarters of the National Biscuit Company. It occupies a previously unused subterranean room below the main concourse which once served as a boiler room. Today, the 6,000-square-foot space is home to state-of-the-art immersive experiences.

Visitors to Submerge are completely immersed in colorful abstract scenes, futuristic images, and experimental sounds as various digital artworks are projected onto the gallery’s state-of-the-art 270-degree, 18K-resolution digital canvas.

The debut works featured in Submerge were created by two dozen different creatives including Team WAI, a collective led by Woosung, a senior motion designer at Apple; Gryun, an Emmy Award-winning CG artist and art director; and Taehoon, an award-winning artist and director celebrated for his work in broadcast, commercials, and film. Their work highlights innovative new mediums of expression from motion-captured performances and AI hallucinations to 3D-animated dreamscapes.

The art on display will rotate every four months, introducing viewers to a new lineup of creatives each time. At the end of the year, ARTECHOUSE will select winners to receive full support in developing solo exhibitions, establishing a talent pipeline, and creating future opportunities beyond 2025.

By showcasing and empowering a diverse group of emerging artists in a burgeoning medium, Submerge aims to be more than just another exhibit. The project aims to define and expand this new art form where unbounded human imagination and the power of technology combine.
