King’s High School Art Auction co-ordinator and senior art and design teacher Sarah Sharma (left) and senior art and photography teacher Lucia Rozenberg hold an artwork titled Felt Tip on Paper, by Dunedin-trained artist Philip Frost.
His work attracted a bid of $600, which contributed to about $6000 raised overall for the school’s arts programmes and an upgrade of the school’s library.
Mrs Sharma said there was a large range of artworks from former students, staff and friends of the school, who were now designers, photographers, tattooists, sculptors, painters and furniture makers.
About 50 people attended the auction at Otago House, in Dunedin, and many more bid online, she said.
“It’s potentially the beginning of something that we will do every four to five years.”
