For the fourth year running, Cannery Brewing and the Penticton Art Gallery are running a key fundraising event that supports local artists and the gallery’s education and outreach programs.

The annual Mini Mural Auction, which sells paintings that have been on display at Cannery Brewing for the past seven months, will be auctioned to the highest bidders at a Live Auction Gala next week.

This year’s auction features ten unique murals created specifically for the event by some of the region’s most talented artists.

The murals were originally unveiled at the 2024 Ignite the Arts Festival and have been designed for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The auction was originally launched during the pandemic as a way to support and uplift local artists. As the project has grown in popularity and continues to provide vital financial assistance, each artist receives a $500 upfront honorarium, plus 50 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of their mural.

The remaining 50 per cent helps fund the Penticton Art Gallery’s exhibitions and outreach programs.

The Live Auction Gala take places on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Cannery Brewing, with the event beginning at 6 p.m. with a welcoming reception, including appetizers, live music and a complimentary drink. Guests will have the chance to meet the artists before the auction starts at 7 p.m., followed by more live music to wrap up the night.

For those who can’t attend in person, online bidding will take place until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Those who can’t attend the live auction can still participate by placing an absentee bid online. The highest online bids will carry over to the Live Auction Gala on Oct. 24, where bidding will continue from the highest online amount.

The gallery said bidders can also set a higher maximum bid, and their team will bid on your behalf up to that amount during the live auction.

Tickets for the gala are $25, including a welcome drink, appetizers, live music, and auction access. Tickets are limited and can be found online here.

“This event is more than just a celebration of art and community — it is a crucial fundraiser for both local artists and the Penticton Art Gallery. All funds raised will directly support the artists and the gallery’s education and outreach programs,” the press release reads.
