Philly Pride Month events this week: A Phillies game, art markets and parties

June 17, 20243 Mins Read

While June is approaching its end, there is no shortage of events in the latter half of Pride Month in Philadelphia.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community can enjoy a night out at the ballpark or sift through works by queer artists at a couple of markets, with one carrying a goth vibe.

And other neighborhoods still have their own Pride events on the calendar, with Chestnut Hill throwing its party this week.

Here’s a look at what’s going on this week:

Phillies Pride Night

LGBTQ+ sports fans have the opportunity to meet up at Citizens Bank Park on Monday to watch the Phillies play the San Diego Padres. Phillies Pride Night is an annual occasion where the baseball team celebrates the city’s rich LGBTQ+ community and history.

Last year’s Pride Night featured a performance from the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus. The first 3,000 fans who purchased tickets for the sold-out event received a voucher for a Pride-themed Phillies fanny pack.

If you can’t make it to the ballpark, you can still catch the game on TV at 6:40 p.m.

Pride Our Night Out

The Sofitel Philadelphia hotel in Rittenhouse Square is inviting visitors to its newly renovated Liberte restaurant. Delaware Valley Legacy Fund will take over the first floor for a Pride Month party. Proceeds from the event will go toward Philadelphia Asian & Queer, a social community of LGBTQ+ Asians and Asian Americans.

Local DJ Carl Michaels will be in charge of tunes for the event on Thursday, June 20, from 6-9 p.m.

Pride Month’s Maker Market

The Hyatt Centric Philadelphia in Rittenhouse is putting on its third annual artisans market, which will showcase the works of local queer artists and small businesses. Visitors will be able to browse or purchase art from vendors, and this year’s market will feature an “interactive connection photography experience” from Inter Light Aura.

The market will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, and Inter Light Aura will be there from 1-4 p.m.

Chestnut Hill Pride Party

The Chestnut Hill community will be throwing a Pride Month celebration after staging its first Pride Party last year. The gathering will be at NoName Gallery on 8127 Germantown Avenue. The party will feature art by NoName founder Jonene Lee, and it’ll serve small bites and a special “They/them-onade” cocktail.

Attendees can also enjoy music from Philly native DJ Xtina. The festivities are scheduled for Saturday, June 22, from 5-8 p.m.

The One Where Goth Shop Takes Over Pride

Witness the intersection of goth and LGBTQ+ cultures at a special art market in Tattooed Mom on South Street. The event is put on by Goth Shop and Social, a group formed in 2022 to showcase eccentric LGBTQ+ artists. This market will feature “handmade oddities” and “gothy items” from local artists.

Every event from the group includes a $1 raffle raising money for local transgender youth, and this event specifically highlights the owner of the indie shop Unfortunate Cadaver. The event will be on Sunday, June 23, from noon-4 p.m.
