One of the most beautiful fresco paintings is undoubtedly Raphael’s ‘The School of Athens’. It shows some of the most accomplished and iconic philosophers and thinkers of the era, Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Pythagoras, and even has Raphael in the background. The painting looks like it is set somewhere in ancient Rome as the structures behind are grand to say the least, and the main message of the painting was to show Plato and Aristotle’s thought as Plato can be seen pointing upwards in a way to talk about the divine while Aristotle points at the book, hinting towards knowledge and reality being supreme.
