In a tucked away part of Marble Arch lies the entry to the mind boggling exhibition that is the Frameless immersive art experience. It depicts the world’s most famous works of art in extremely original and interesting new ways, providing a fresh perspective to all those who visit it.
There are four separate rooms, each depicting a different theme, and each using different methods to do so.
The ‘Beyond reality’ themed room brings to life works such as ‘The Elephants’ by Salvador Dali and ‘The Fireside Angel’ by Max Earnest using animation projected onto all four walls and a mirrored floor and ceiling. The effect of these designs choices suck you into the world of these paintings, and one member of the public described it as “fully immersing myself in the story and world that these artist created”.
Next, the most influential paintings in the Impressionism, Pointillism, and Post-Impressionism movements that explored the uses of colour like never before are brought to life in the ‘Colour in motion’ room. Paintings included are Van Gough’s famous ‘Self Portrait’ and Monet’s ‘The Waterlily Pond’.
Then, ‘The world around us’ allows portraits such as Van Gough’s ‘The Starry Night’ and Monet’s ‘London’ move us like never before, as they are projected at such a size that you feel as if you could be one of the characters inside.
Finally, sporadic sheets of mesh and complete darkness are used to captivate ‘The art of abstraction’, as Klee’s ‘Ancient Harmony’ and Mondrian’s ‘Victory Boogie Woogie’ seem to jump around the room before your very eyes.
All these rooms are accompanied by amazing soundtracks, creating an atmosphere of awe and wonder as you experience art that has broken out of its frame.
