An artistic Pokemon fan has painted a breathtaking portrait of the Water-Type Pokemon Vaporeon, one of eight evolved forms of Eevee. When the Normal-Type Pokemon Eevee is exposed to a Water Stone, it evolves into Vaporeon. Eevee’s other forms include Jolteon, Flareon, Glaceon, Sylveon, Espeon, Umbreon, and Leafeon — collectively referred to by the Pokemon community as “Eeveelutions.” Vaporeon is rarely seen in the wild as it is often belonging to a trainer. However, a wild Vaporeon will gravitate towards freshwater lakes and shores. In a Pokemon fan’s stunning art piece, a waterfall is where Vaporeon resides.

Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokemon, possesses a hidden ability called Hydration. When it rains, Vaporeon can activate Hydration to heal all status effects. In the Pokemon anime, Vaporeon made its first appearance in The Battling Eevee Brothers, but a version of Vaporeon is notable for belonging to Dawn’s rival Ursula after she evolves her Eevee at the Sinnoh Grand Festival in the episode “Last Call — First Round!” Another character called Kiley, who appears in PokemonJourneys: The Series, also owns a Vaporeon. He evolves his Eevee into Vaporeon after learning he has a keen interest in surfing. The Pokemon community has a deep admiration for Eevee’s many forms, even to the extent of wanting to collect them all in the Pokemon games.

In the painting shared on Reddit by Darcy HW, Vaporeon sleeps peacefully atop a gathering of boulders in the middle of a grand waterfall. The talented artist behind the depiction of Vaporeon seems to have a track record of painting Eeeveelutions, just as many other Pokemon fans use the Eeveelutions as a centerpiece for art. For instance, they have painted Vaporeon at a waterfall, Flareon during sunset, Umbreon under the moonlight, and even Jolteon sleeping during a thunderstorm. They have also painted Ninetales atop a Shinto Shrine and even their favorite location from Final Fantasy 16.

Members of the Pokemon subreddit were thoroughly blown away by the art. In fact, one comment even suggested the piece would make great custom artwork for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The New Zealand artist, known as Darcy HW, sells prints on their website that feature all the aforementioned Eevee evolution art as well as some Cyberpunk, Princess Mononoke, Demon Slayer, and Chainsaw Man art. Darcy’s website details how the architectural beauty of New Zealand and international travel has influenced their artwork.

That would explain why many of Darcy’s pieces feature grandiose landscapes with smaller-scale characters inserted into the imposing world around them. Although the characters themselves are significant, the eyes are drawn automatically to the environment, which emulates the effortless beauty of nature. The artistically inclined Pokemon community has reimagined these creatures in some of the most creative ways, cementing the franchise as one of the most beloved around the world.
