Cowbridge Old Hall will host a solo show by David Robinson this September.
The exhibition will include a range of his popular seaside paintings, with sea swimmers and seagulls as well as several characters tucking into chips and ice cream!
A member of Cowbridge Art Society and a participant in this year’s National Eisteddfod art exhibition, Y Lle Celf, David (pictured above) said:“I wanted to put on an exhibition that everyone can enjoy, whether or not they’re into art.”
With both traditional landscapes and more whimsical, imaginative pieces, David explains: “We’ve had a difficult few years – with two family bereavements last year – but through art I can look around and give value to all that we have locally: beautiful landscapes, great community and people full of humour and wit.”
Drawing inspiration from the much-loved Beryl Cook, but also John Elwyn, Norman Cornish and Ruskin Spear, David’s work is very much connected to local life and upbeat.
David said: “I really do feel privileged to be able to live and work here in South Wales – and I’d like to share some of that joy in my work.”
David’s exhibition ‘Living the dream’ will be open at Cowbridge Old Hall (CF71 7AF) weekdays 10am-4pm, from September 3-26, admission free.
