An 11-year-old Stanmore girl has devoted her summer holiday to raising money for the RSPCA.
Rather than attend sports camps or coding clubs, budding artist Yahvi is selling handmade works of art to raise funds for the charity.
The talented young artist was inspired to support the RSPCA after an incident that left her reeling. Upon taking a bedraggled looking cat to their local vet, Yahvi and mum Ruchi were “shellshocked” to discover that the miserable mog had been abandoned when its owner moved to Germany. Yahvi was keen to take in the cat herself, but the vet was obliged to send the furry feline to the RSPCA.
Yahvi said: “So far, I’ve made a painting and some bookmarks. Doing art helps me to express my feelings.
“I don’t think it’s right that animals are mistreated just because they can’t speak like humans. They do communicate, just not the way people do. All animals deserve a home.”
