Applications are now open for a new round of the Victorian Women’s Public Art Program.

Under the $1.2 million program, local councils, art organisations and private companies are encouraged to partner with artists and community groups to create public artworks to honour outstanding Victorian women.

This Victorian Government program celebrates women’s stories and achievements and creates a permanent record of the excellence and leadership of women right across the state.

Public art can be contemporary, thought-provoking and inspiring. It can show us all what is possible – if you can see it, you can be it.

This program supports the creation of six new public artworks. The work can be two- or three-dimensional permanent artworks accessible to the public, including sculptures, murals, installations and works in new media such as projection or screen-based installations.

The program also provides a key commissioning opportunity for women artists in raising their profile and promoting their artistic achievements.

The Victorian Women’s Public Art Program is funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Support Fund and run in partnership with McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery. A national authority on sculpture commissioning, McClelland continues to support contemporary artists to develop, create and present work.
