Contemporary Art Invited to the Métropole du Grand Paris for Paris 2024

To coincide with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Greater Paris Metropolitan Area, in collaboration with the TRAM network, is organising La Métropolitaine, an international contemporary art event running until 15 September.

This event, an integral part of the Cultural Olympiad, aims to celebrate the links between sport and culture, while providing a platform for contemporary artists to express themselves in 13 emblematic art venues across the city.

An International Contemporary Art rendez-vous

La Métropolitaine is an ambitious initiative that showcases the diversity of the visual arts through a rich programme that is accessible to all. The event stands out for its determination to make contemporary art accessible to the 131 communes of the Greater Paris Metropolitan Area, offering a unique opportunity to discover exhibitions, performances, screenings, workshops and round-table discussions throughout the region.

Key venues for La Métropolitaine

La Métropolitaine will take place in 13 key art venues in Greater Paris, including

  • Ateliers Médicis
  • Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry — le Crédac
  • Cité internationale des arts
  • Frac Île-de-France — Les Réserves
  • Hangar Y
  • MAC VAL — Musée d’art contemporain du Val-de-Marne

These spaces, along with a host of partner structures, will host a multitude of exhibitions and multidisciplinary artistic events, reflecting the richness and diversity of contemporary art.

A sensory opera in four acts by Maxime Rossi

Artist Maxime Rossi has conceived a flagship project for La Métropolitaine: “Terre, air, feu”, a synaesthetic opera in four acts that will take place in various locations across the city. The aim of the project is to create a space for exchange and public input, offering a sensitive and immersive approach to reflections on new artistic narratives.
