The Royal Agricultural Society of WA is excited to announce the return of the Perth Royal Art Prize in 2024, offering a prize pool of $24,000 for artworks that interpret the theme of ‘Landscape.’
Established in 1974, this initiative has gained increasing artistic prestige over the years, with many artists using the prize as a launchpad for their careers, making significant contributions to the arts community in WA and beyond.
As one of Western Australia’s premier art prizes, it focuses on landscape-based art and will award four prizes this year. The first prize is a generous $20,000 and is non-acquisitive, allowing the winning artist to sell their work at the prize exhibition. Winners will also receive a $500 Emerging Artist Award, along with two Highly Commended awards.
In 2022, the event was held separately from the Perth Royal Show for the first time, making it a standalone event enabling greater focus on the Prize and increasing its accessibility to the broader community.
This year, the exhibition of selected artworks will be open to the public in July, and all exhibited works will be available for sale.
